What are the costs of employing staff versus using a Freelance Business Support Professional?
We are pleased to offer our Business Support services via any of the three charge options below
(NB: Fees start from £40 per hour for our Retainer services):
1. PAY AS YOU GO/AD HOC BUSINESS SUPPORT
If you wish to “pay as you go”, you simply call us when you need support. Fees will be at CCP’s standard rate per hour, with a minimum one-hour charge. Over one hour, services are rounded up to the nearest quarter of an hour.
2. PRE-PAID BUSINESS SUPPORT
You purchase a minimum of two hour’s business support in advance at CCP's standard rate per hour and we deduct the actual amount of work from that time each time we do a task, thereby waiving the minimum one hour charge in Pay as You Go. For example, you purchase two hours Pre-Paid support, you call us, and we take 15 minutes to do the work, which means that you still have 1 hour 45 minutes’ support time left.
3. MONTHLY RETAINER
If you think you will need more regular support and would like increased value for money, you could consider a “retainer” package. Retainer packages start at 10 hours per month and discounts are available based on CCP's standard rate per hour.
With retainer packages, you will be invoiced at the start of each month and we work on a three month rolling contract. Please note that unused hours do not roll over to the next month, but we’ll always let you know when you’re approaching your purchased hours.
We keep detailed timesheets using Paymo, clearly outlining work carried out and time spent. Reports can be submitted, if required, along with our invoices.
Please note that our fees are based on remote support (there may be additional charges/mileage if we are required to come to your offices.) The charges above are for standard hours, which are 09:00-17:00 Monday to Friday. Fees can of course be agreed outside these hours if required for urgent support.

- Staff simply cannot work non-stop from the moment they enter the workplace until they leave (they are only human, after all).
- Assuming a fairly conservative list of distractions and life’s day-to-day aggravations, employers could lose an average:
- 124 productive working hours per year
- OR 2½ hours per week![1]
- On top of that, factor in employers’ NI contributions (which currently stand at 13.8% in addition to the employee's salary) and it becomes apparent that staff are an incredibly expensive commodity that many businesses simply cannot afford.
- There are also office space and equipment costs to include in the overall expense of employing just one member of staff. For those who don’t currently employ anyone, there are other factors to consider such as employers liability insurance, supervision costs and whether businesses have the time, motivation or skills to carry out their own administration tasks.
